Pediatric Physical Therapy

Pediatric Physical Therapy in Midtown East Manhattan
The Pediatric Physical Therapy program in Midtown East Manhattan is designed to address the individual needs of children and adolescents with a variety of orthopedic conditions, sports injuries, and developmental and congenital disorders.  Pediatric physical therapy goes beyond helping a child recover from a sports injury or a broken bone — it can be an effective treatment for children with balance or posture issues, range of motion deficits, troubles with mobility, and attainment of motor milestones.
Sometimes issues arise in early childhood that can hinder future development. Children can experience a wide range of physical and behavioral problems from a very early age, possibly due to neurological, neurocognitive, orthopedic, generalized musculoskeletal problems, or following an illness or surgical intervention.  Our highly trained Pediatric Physical Therapists at Sutton Place Physical and Aquatic Therapy have extensive experience working with kids and teens with a variety of conditions. Your child’s therapist will perform a comprehensive initial evaluation to identify any abnormalities in gait, posture, balance, coordination, muscle tone, range of motion, and strength.  Treatments will then be tailored to target your child’s unique needs based on this in-depth analysis. Furthermore, your child’s Pediatric Physical Therapist can help identify existing and potential problems, and, if necessary, they can consult with your child’s medical, psychological, and school team regarding an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Our goal is to maximize your child’s potential at home, in school, in sports, and in everyday activities.
A prescription for a pediatric PT evaluation is not necessary, though doctors commonly recommend Sutton Place Physical and Aquatic Therapy for their patients.  Some pediatric conditions which can significantly benefit from Pediatric Physical Therapy in Midtown East include:
